TRAVEL: Delhi in pictures

On the way back home from the truly wonderful Nepal I thought it would be mad not to stop off at my spiritual home, New Delhi, for a few days. I hadn't been for just over 18 months, but it felt like an eternity!

Getting off the plane and walking along the suspended pathway to the terminal, smelling the afternoon air in New Delhi brought back so many happy memories! We visited a couple of our favourite places: the near-perfect symmetry of Humayyun's Tomb, the wide-open expanses at Rajpath, the epic Jama Masjid in Old Delhi and of course the ever-lasting red walls of Lal Qila.

True enough, I couldn't visit New Delhi without doing some serious shopping! Whenever I go, I always stock up on beauty products! The quality is excellent and the prices unreal! So Connaught Place and Karol Bagh market were visited numerous times.

It may only have been a short stay but we managed to fit in quite a bit! Now I'm longing to go back again, this time for longer ;)

Hope you all had a lovely few days off. And happy new year! At midnight there I was lighting a pack of 10 flying lanterns and not one of them launched. FAIL.

I'm still thinking about what my new years resolution could be, something that's realistic. Have you dolls made any yet?

I'm back people!

Hello hello my little stalkers.

I have been away, for an awful long time I must admit. Why I hear you ask? I got married!

It was a full on Indian wedding. My dress was pretty heavy but damn it was worth it! :D

So yeeeah, we went on a loooong honeymoon to lovely India. Not your typical kinda honeymoon destination but I'd rather go out and do some exploring than sit on a beach somewhere.
Highlight was definitely the Taj Mahal. I wanted to be there from sunrise to sunset but my train got delayed by several hours from Delhi so sunrise was out of the equation. I did however manage to catch it at noon and sunset. One word = Amazing.

How beautiful does the Taj look? Sighhh..

Mangoes nicely stacked at a lassi shop. Mmmm..

Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur in the state Rajasthan. A huge fort built on top of a mountain. We took a good few hours looking around inside.

The street food was surprisingly tasty. This is Paneer Tikka which is Indian cottage cheese marinated in spices and BBQ'd, which is served with green chutney. It was cheaper than chips too, it worked out around 40 pence for this whole plate. :O

Hehe, I loved riding around in the auto rickshaws. I loved the whole haggling aspect of it, see how low I can go, haha!

Aaaaand last but certainly not least, me and my husband :) We were at Humayun's tomb (two pictures above) Seeking shade from the scorching sun.

It's been a week since I've come back and I am finding it difficult to adjust. I am really missing India. :(
