FOTD: MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow in Bleuluxe

DSC_9487

I think I may have mentioned this previously, but I never allow myself to get too excited by an upcoming MAC collection anymore. Usually there's a couple of months worth of pre-launch hype and teasers attempting to make you really want it, then when you go into your nearest MAC counter you have a little browse and notice that it really isn't all that. Even if there is something in there genuinely worth getting excited about, you tend to find that it goes out of stock within minutes. Literally, minutes.

So when MAC started hyping up their Indulge collection I found myself a little surprised. There were a couple of items that actually caught my interest. When the collection was finally released, I had to visit all three MAC counters to get my hands on the one thing I was dying to try. Only one counter had received any of it, and even then they only received three. Yes, that's three for the whole of Manchester!

So what was it then? It was of course the Three Ring Yellow eyeshadow. I was also interested by the Gilt Gourmet Fluidline, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but it seems MAC produced quite a lot of that so I didn't have any difficulty getting it. Even though it was a bit irritating to be traipsing around Manchester looking for Three Ring Yellow, every cloud has a silver lining.

Except in my case it was more of bluey-silvery lining. While I was trying out the first MAC counter, in Selfridges, my attention was diverted away from the Indulge collection momentarily by the Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow palettes, there are six different varieties from pink through to brown, but I naturally opted for the blue one, named Bleuluxe. I swatched it on my wrist and was blown away by quite how sparkly it looked, it's also a little sheer but the microscopic glitter had me entranced. Despite the annoying lack of Three Ring Yellow, I couldn't just leave empty handed so I purchased this little surprise package instead.

 DSC_9687
 DSC_9696

How stunning does this look?

Maybe it was my disappointment about Three Ring Yellow being out of stock (although technically it was never in stock), maybe it was the misleading fluorescent lighting in-store, maybe it was just me acting on impulse or more likely it was a mixture of all three. Either way, I was fooled.

As gorgeous as it looks in the photos, this palette is truly ordinary. Ordinary is probably being a little bit generous actually. The flourescent lighting definitely played its part in MAC's trickery, beaming down on to every tiny little piece of glitter on the swatch, accentuating the shine and sparkle.

When I took it home, I packed on Bleuluxe 3 (the medium blue in the middle) all over the lid. The colour was quite soft, very sheer and the tiny little glitter particles transferred onto the lid quite nicely, though it did feel a little heavy. I was very, very disappointed with the lack of colour, to the extent I actually wiped it back off. I prefer my eyeshadows to be opaque, and I was probably being naive to think that an opaque, sparkly eyeshadow exists!

After a bit of experimentation I found that to bring out a more intense finish, I needed to apply this wet. This results in a kind of semi-opaque, metallic finish and even then, it doesn't have anywhere near enough intensity for my liking. In the end, I grabbed my tried-and-tested Sleek Ultra Matte Brights Palette, applied the colour 'Bolt' over the lid and lower lash line, with a dab of 'Sugarlite' in the centre of both the lid and lower lash line to add a bit of dimension to the finished eye look.

To complete the look, I applied Bleuluxe 3 all on top of the Sleek Colours. And applied Bleuluxe 1, which is the pale silver, in the inner corners of my eyes.

The results were astonishing.

*LIPS*

The finished look is beautiful when using an opaque base eyeshadow underneath, for my look I used the ever-reliable Sleek Ultra Matte Brights palette, but in reality you can just use your own favourite opaque shadow. As good as this look is, there is a teeny-weeny little caveat. The fall-out is pretty bad as you should always expect from a glittery eyeshadow, by the end of the day I had glitter particles all over my face!

As far as the MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow palette goes, if you are into your big, bold, opaque eyeshadows then I'd give this a miss. It isn't big, it isn't bold, it isn't opaque and it probably shouldn't even be called an eyeshadow either. It's just tightly pressed glitter in a palette.

Having said that, the festive season is on it's way so I'll be using this quite often, if only to make sure I get my thirty quids worth of usage out of it. Yes that's right. £30. Would I repurchase? No. It is ridiculously expensive for what it is and you could purchase a couple of Barry M's Dazzle Dusts to achieve a similar look at a fraction of the price.

Sorry MAC, must do better!

FOTD: MAC Indulge Collection Make Up Look

I know that a new MAC release is supposed to be a big deal, people who aren't even in to make up get all giddy and excited over it. I don't. The promotional photos rarely ever appeal to me, they're totally unrelateable. So it came as a great surprise to me when I saw the promo snaps for the new Indulge Fall Collection.

The shot that really struck a chord with me had an amazingly pretty lady with a wash of yellow-gold eyeshadow and lashings of thick black eyeliner. It actually looks remarkably similar to what I've been sporting recently, very retro glam, think 60s!

Obviously I couldn't just wait until MAC release the collection over here in the UK, I had to re-create the look. Like, now! I had a good old rummage through piles and piles of make-up and came up with this:

Can you believe that I didn't use MAC on the eyes? It just goes to show how dupe-able products really are. Despite that, I still cannot wait to get my hands on Gilt Gourmet Fluidline and Just a Bite lipstick. I don't have anything like the Gilt Gourmet in my own personal collection, so I'm devastated that it's already sold out online! As soon as it hits the stores, I'm there. Buying ten.

In the promo photo the woman was wearing a nude lipstick - think 'concealer lips'. I'm sure she's wearing Smash Hit lipstick and I can imagine this looking quite flattering on paler skin tones, but I haven't even looked at a nude lipstick in years. I feel I've moved past that stage now, so I painted on my beloved MAC Diva. I just cannot stop wearing this shade lately - the sumptuous, warming dark burgundy feels strangely comforting as the cold, harsh winter approaches.

In other news, I must apologise for my lack of online activity recently. I've been working on a couple of projects and have been struggling to find a balance although I did manage to find my way to Paperchase to purchase a diary that will keep me organised.

Me? Organised? Well... There's a first for everything ;)

I have lots and lots to post about, so stay tuned!

FOTD: Edie Sedgwick Inspired 60s Retro Make Up Look

DSC_8927

Looking back at the year so far, I've really been starting to experiment more with my make up. I've grown a bit tired of the typical top liner and mascara combination and the smokey eyes I roll out for those special occasions. I wanted to try something a bit different, something I'd never really done before.

So I looked back in time to see what people a little further back were doing with make up, and found that the women of the 60s had some interesting techniques going on. I came to the realisation that 60s eye make up will be my signature look for 2013, and that I must have been born in the wrong era!

I'd say that the main inspiration behind my experimentation is Edie Sedgwick, who was brought to my attention by Laa Laa (big thank you!). Just a quick Google Image search shows that this lady oozed class, her make up always looked incredible, yet so so simple!

Over the years I've kinda got into this routine with my everyday eye make up, which consists of a wash of white or cream eyeshadow on the lids. It's not too dissimilar to the kind of shadow used back then, so perhaps that plays a part as to why it has appealed so much to me.

But I think that the biggest draw for me is the sheer amount of eyeliner involved. I've been using it since I was 15 and it'd just be criminal for me not to use any.

Eyeliner is my crack.

If there were an 'Eyeliners Anonymous' I'd probably go, but when they say they're trying to help wean me off it, I'd scream and crash through the window, running home quickly so I can roll around on the bed with my Clinique Brush on Cream Liner.

Anyways... My 60s Style Make Up is ever evolving, no two looks are the same as I continue to play around and experiment. It's quite a bold look and some may say that it's too bold to rock out every day, but you know what? F**k the rules. If I've got the time, why not? ;)

Now onto the evidence:

 DSC_8861

Exhibit B: From the side...

 DSC_8925

Exhibit C: Thick Black Lines hug the Eye-line, before breaking away

 DSC_8904

Exhibit D: Close up on the Contacts, my actual pupil is still visible!

Pixi Glow Tinker Bell Fairy Dust (inner corner highlight)
Benefit Eye Bright Pencil (waterline and brow bone)
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara

*LIPS*

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso

So that was my 60s Style Make Up look! As I'm experimenting so much, with no two looks being the same and a few variations here or there, I feel I need to start investing more into my eyeliners. For the flick on the upper and lower lash lines, I've been using the Clinique Gel Liner which lacks the kind of precision and colour intensity that I want. I'll be looking into purchasing a felt-tipped liner to give me that, which should elevate this look to new heights!

I've been spending a lot more time recently on my make up, and as a result my skills are improving and my confidence is growing. The old saying really is true:

"Practice Makes Perfect..."

I'd encourage everyone reading to mix things up a bit with their look and try something new, what's the worst that could happen? I will definitely be experimenting more and more, and will be posting new looks in the not-too-distant future!

It's been a little while since my last post, so apologies for that but life has been very, very busy recently and I've just been so tired! But, I had some exciting news on Friday so the blogging bug has bitten me again! :)

Tell me about what, or who, inspires your make up looks? How often do you try something fresh?

Simple 60s MOD EOTD, FOTD and coloured lenses. It's all goin' on!

HiHiHi!

I've been stuck in a bit of a rut for a while now with my make up, particularly around the eyes. I did mention a while back that I'd been struggling to come up with new ideas to get away from the smokey eyes look, it's just too easy to do!

I realised that my current eye make up consists of a wash of MAC's Brule on the lids, flicked out top liner, inner corner highlight and roughly 5,838,483 coats of mascara.

Whilst going through the motions one morning I was applying MAC's Brule and thought: 'Sack this off!' I grabbed my MAC 219 brush and applied some dark eyeshadow to the crease, followed it around, flicked it out and blended it in a little to stop it from looking so harsh. Here's how it turned out:

 DSC_4518

 DSC_4525

When I looked in the mirror, it totally reminded me of 'Mod' eye make up, and I love the 60s era. The cut crease eye shadow, flicked out eyeliner, the monochrome fascination... Was I born three decades late? ;)

Not only does it look great, it's ridiculously easy to do! Now I'm feeling a wee bit better about my eye make up and it's given me the optimism needed to try something just that little bit different. So, I had a go at a faux bottom lash look (which can be seen on my instagram) by drawing tiny little lines under the eyes: think Twiggy. Her make up is so striking yet so simple at the same time!

EYES

 DSC_4567

Left to right: MAC Wedge e/s, MAC Black Tied e/s & MAC Brule e/s

I know, I know... More MAC. They do hold a special place in my heart though as I was a MAC fanatic when I first got serious about make up, and when you CBA using it everyday you kind of get a stockpile going.

 DSC_4575

 MAC Brule

I've not hit the pan with much of my MAC stuff but Brule is another story. I heart this eye shadow just a little too much. As mentioned above it's one of my everyday shadows. I find that this instantly lifts your eyes and looks gorgeous with flicked out liner.

It's one of those 'must have' base matte versatile eye shadows. It's neutral, creamy, halfway between beige and ivory and can look lovely on the brow bone if you fancy some highlighting without shimmer.

 DSC_4578

 MAC Black Tied.

I actually prefer 'Black Tied' to MAC's 'Carbon'. It's a lot softer and less harsh than Carbon and as a result is far easier to blend out. Don't be fooled by the silver glitter running through it, it won't make it on to your eye lids unless you apply with a wet brush. I applied this with the MAC 219 pencil brush to the crease, it is pigmented enough to draw on.

 DSC_4580

 MAC Wedge

This is one of those eye shadows that looks a bit blah. But believe me when I say it is freaking awesome! It's a soft medium brown matte shade so it does look pretty dull. I think this was actually my first ever MAC eye shadow, I don't know what possessed me to buy it! I'm glad that I did though, I used to pair it with MAC's Concrete. This would go all over the lid with Concrete in the crease to give my eyes natural looking definition.

Nowadays I use Wedge to blend out colours in the crease. I have to say that I suck at blending eye shadows on their own, but using this with a fluffy brush like MAC's 217 or, to mix it up a bit, NARS' Large Domed brush (which is much softer than the 217). I love how this blends in so beautifully with other colours without detracting from that colour and it's almost impossible for others to notice what you've done. It gives you the 'I'm a pro at blending' look even if, like me, you really aren't!

 DSC_4562

Left to right: MAC 219 and MAC 217 brushes

These 2 brushes are also 'must haves'. I've had these babies for years and both are still going strong. Both are quite stiff, but the 219 is smaller so better for precision application, so you can see why it's called the Pencil Brush! It's amazing for applying eye shadow to the outer V or smudging liner under your eyes for the smoked out effect.

The 217 on the other hand is more of a blending tool which helps to blend and feather out darker colours.

 DSC_4552

I've also had a few new followers ask me if my eyes are naturally blue. It made me LAUGH OUT LOUD. I honestly think coloured contact lenses look dead unnatural on me, but that's probably because I know what my natural eye colour is, ha!

I was kindly sent a pair of blue coloured contact lenses from the cleverly named Beautifeye.

It came with a contact lens case and 120ml of solution. These are the 3 month soft contact lenses, the ones you take out at the end of the day, squirt on some solution and rub for a few seconds. You then place them in the case and fill it up with more solutions ready for next usage.

I've worn contact lenses in the past so I found them very easy to pop in, but if you've never worn them before it might get a little tricky! In terms of comfort I must say that I found them a bit odd at first, every time I blinked I could feel an alien object in my eye followed by a flash of blue light. After a few days though I got used to them and the blue flash stopped.

The blue is electric and very dramatic, especially when combined with my desi skin tone! It does go very nicely with my turquoise ombre hair, but then again anything Aqua would!

Do blue contact lenses suit darker skin tones? Well I think it really depends on what you feel comfortable with. A lot of people tend to associate darker skin tones with dark, brown eyes and while it's true for the majority, you do often see lighter eye colours, so who's to say that blues or greens look unnatural? Think Wilhelmina Slater! (Not my kitten, the exquisitely mean editor-in-chief from Ugly Betty). Personally I feel comfortable wearing coloured contacts, it does look unnatural because of the print but I think overall it suits me!

I'll definitely be purchasing more coloured lenses in future, I find that they add an instant, dramatic effect to your look and can transform your entire facial appearance. If you feel like a change, I'd recommend it 100%.

Looking on the Beautifeye website, I see they're priced at a very reasonable £14.99. This includes the contacts, the case and the solution. One slight downside is that currently they do not offer prescription lenses, otherwise I'd be all over them like a fat kid on cake!

Next up, I'll have to venture into the world of Circle Lenses, I've always fancied attempting to create the dolly eyed look.

And the rest of my mug:

I've done quite a bit of talking on this post, but you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed typing it all up. It may be a bit all over the place but then that's just me. It was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me, to the ghosts of make up past and actually I was surprised how I still use some of the same products as I did when I first started out, just a little differently!

Now tell me what you think: are you stuck in a rut with your make up? What do you think of coloured contact lenses on darker skin tones?

From the Archives: FACE - NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Hello hello!

A little while back I took some photos for a review my 'Holy Grail' Foundation but sadly I seemed to have misplaced one of the 727476327 SD cards I own. Finally, I found it the other day. On my other laptop, ha!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation? What can I say? I've been using this for well over a year and that in itself says quite a lot about just how good this really is. I purchased mine in the shade 'Barcelona'. Funnily enough, while in Barcelona recently I was foundation-less and went bare faced.

At the make up counter, I was initially matched to 'Syracuse' which in my opinion, was faaar too dark for me. This is why I rarely ask for, and always reject, assistance at Make-up counters. I'm sorry but if I want to look like an Oompa Loompa then I'll ask for it, okay?

Back to the foundation, the shade Barcelona has peachy undertones, perfect for folks that are between NC37-NC40 in MAC and have uneven skin tone. This definitely offers some form of correction and makes skin look as even as possible. Once I've applied the foundation, it actually appears to adjust to my skin tone, like magic! Any uneven skin tone I have seems to almost vanish.

For those of you who simply cannot be bothered reading the rest, check below for the summarised, bulleted bit, I can imagine this will come out being rambly, haha.

Here's what NARS have to say about it:

"A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin's brightness and texture.
  • For normal, normal-to-dry and dry skin types
  • Hydrates for softer and smoother skin
  • Contains powerful anti-oxidants to protect against damaging free radicals and turmeric extract to improve skin's radiance and tone
  • Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic. Fragrance free. Consumer Testing Results:
  • 100% skin felt soft and smooth
  • 96% evened out skin tone
  • 96% would recommend Sheer Glow to a friend"
 Niiice.

Photobucket

Tone, Consistency and Application:
The tone is quite warm, almost golden brown looking with a slight peach tint to it as mentioned above. The consistency is quite runny but don't let that fool you in to applying layers and layers. I either apply this with the fingers or my ELF Studio Powder Brush. I use my fingers for when I do my make up in the morning for work or the weekend and only need 1 pump! FYI, you need to buy the pump seperately. 1 pump is enough to cover my entire face as luckily, my skin is relatively clear and don't need as much coverage and like it to look as natural as possible.

For special occasions or going out, I use 2 pumps for that 'done up' look without it looking cakey.

 Photobucket

Formulation, Finish and Longevity:

The formulation is definitely buildable and it blends like a dream. When blending either with fingers or a brush, it seems to melt into the skin without settling into pores and leaves you with a flawless look.

I'd have to say even though it's named "NARS Sheer Glow", there is nothing Sheer about this foundation unless you use a small amount. This gives medium to full coverage if you use the usual 2 pumps (as with most foundations). Even with the 2 pumps this feels incredibly light on the skin, pretty much the exact opposite of MAC's Studio Fix Fluid.

For those days where I get the odd spot, I find I don't need to use concealer which is a bonus! That's how awesome this stuff is. Once I've applied it, my skin looks incredibly natural, looks super skin-like and looks incredibly ORGASMIC! The glow it gives it just enough without looking like an oil slick.

NARS recommends this foundation for peeps with Normal to Dry skin and I totally understand as to why, by midday my skin looks super glowy, maybe a little too glowy for some folk. But a dusting of powder fixes that.  For those of you looking for a Matte finish, this is not the foundation for you. With this, skin looks hydrated and dewy. did I already mention that?

The longevity of this is absolutely fantastic! I find it lasts throughout my whole day and at the end of it, you find your skin looks dewy providing that you've dusted a little powder on top. However skin does still look stunningly flawless.

Would I re-purchase?

I already have. I can't look back now.

Although in between I have tested out other foundations such as Christian Dior's Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Hydrating Make Up in shade 040. Yep, as much as I love NARS, the beauty junkie within me can't stop experimenting with others brands, ha!

Diorskin gives the same finish as NARS but not enough coverage which I'm not too bothered about, however, the shade is not for those with uneven skin tone, it will not attempt to correct it. It's more for people that have almost perfect looking skin.

What I love most about NARS Sheer Glow is the shade Barcelona. For women of colour, I too share the pain of the lack of colour range out their for us. Sure, while MAC, Bobbi Brown, and many others brands now have a huge colour selection but they only 'almost' match, and for me that's just not good enough.

So congratulations NARS. You've finally hit the spot.

Priced at £29.50. Some would say it's on the pricey side, but as I use one pump, this foundations lasts me an age. A worthwhile investment if you ask me!

To summarise:

Pros:
  • Medium to full coverage that looks like actual skin, yet provides enough coverage
  • Finish looks skin-like, dewy and most importantly FLAWLESS
  • Provides you with even looking skin if you've chosen the right shade. The peachy undertones in Shade Barcelona helped even out some of the uneveness
  • This does not oxidise like MAC's Studiofix Fluid
  • Does not contain SPF, perfect for photographs to avoid the white cast some SPF'd foundations can give
  • Longevity is excellent, at the end of the day, skin looks dewy yet FLAWLESS
  •  Blends into skin seamlessly and does not settle into pores.
  • Can be used on Oily/Combination skin in my opinion. Providing that you set your make up with a bit of powder
  • Feels light on the skin

Cons:
  •  Priced at £29.50, some would argue this is on the expensive side. But if you use let's say a pump at a time, this should last you a while.
  • May not be suitable for Oily skin typed folks. It may make you look 'too glowy' that some percieve as 'Shine' but can easily be fixed with some powder
  • Does not contain SPF. Also a pro but for those of you looking for SPF in your foundation, this is not for you.
  • It does not come with a pump. You will need to purchase this. I bought mine for £3.00 from the NARS Counter in Selfridges.

Now, as I've already talked about the foundation, thought I may as well show you what else I'm wearing, and no I'm not about to go all pervy on you... I mean my make up silly! ;)

So, a few special mentions down below:

MAC Eyeshadow in Beauty Marked

 Photobucket

Isn't she just beautiful? However, I do know that others are disappointed with this. It looks purple in the pan but upon application it looks black/charcoal with hints of glitter in. I personally do not mind this. Sometimes I use this as a wash all over the lid or in the crease.

 Photobucket

In this case, I've used it in the crease and it doesn't appear to be purple toned.

 Photobucket

EYES:

MAC Eyeshadow in Brulé - all over the lid
MAC Eyeshadow in Beauty Marked - in the crease and lined under the eye
MAC Pigment in Vanilla - inner corner highlighter
Clinique Brush-On Cream Eyeliner in True Black
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Black

FACE:
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Barcelona - Obvs!

LIPS:

Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick in Kiss Me

I heart this lippie. It's a semi matte lipstick with amazing pigmentation but fades throughout the day, they don't call touch ups touch ups for nothing. The colour is absolutely gorgeous though. It's pink with coral undertones.

Unfortunately, Rimmel have discontinued the Colour Show Off range, so I turned to my best friend, eBay. They sell these for around £2.50. Bargain!

Photobucket

And there you have it! I applaud those of you that managed to make it this far, this post is rather lengthy.

But yes! All in all, NARS Sheer Glow is my HG foundation. I think I'd cry if they discontinued it. NARS, I plead you, please do not let this happen!

Have any of you found your holy grail foundation?

Stuck in a smoked out rut..

Hello, dolls!

After another short break from the blog, I'm back and more determined than ever to get posting more regularly!

I like to think that, when it comes to make-up, I push boundaries and try new things all of the time. What I think happens and what actually happens are two very different things though.

I'm a girl that likes my sleep, I need my eight hours... minimum! So every morning I need to wake up as late as possible to make sure I get it. I have a little 'schedule' in my head and that schedule allows for 10-15 minutes to apply make-up.

How much room for experimenting is there in that space of time? Not a lot. So I fall into the trap of reaching for whatever is nearest and end up sporting the same look, with minor tweaks, day in day out.

The routine only changes if I get time in the evenings or weekends to tidy up the ol' dressing table. Morning make-up for me is a bit like a production line, making the same stuff over and over again until I buy something new.

One such look I seem to be churning out every morning lately involves smoking out my eyes, it's just so easy and requires zero thinking! Perhaps it's just a little too easy.

You may have noticed excessive usage of Inglot products, but in my defence there's no Inglot store in Manchester. When I came across it in Dubai I went a little crazy. What's a girl to do?! ;)

The Inglot Eye Base is an integral part of the production line every morning, the only problem is it is the worst eye base I have ever had the misfortune of using. The eyeshadow creases like a bitch and the formula feels a bit like extra virgin olive oil... but it's there so on it goes.

As for the eyeshadows. One word - LOVELOVELOVE.

The ultimate smoky kit - in case you don't know Inglot, you choose your eyeshadows, they stick them into palettes. In my case, I wanted to create a smoky kit, et voilà!

The star of the show has to be the highlighter. It's a vintage champagne coloured eye shadow with a delicate touch of shimmer to it. It works fantastically on the inner corners and the brow bone.

Suck it in! :)

Since returning from my travels my skin has been looking a lot clearer, it could have something to do with my newly discovered fondness of Green Tea and my freshly re-discovered appreciation of tap water, I just can't drink enough of the stuff!

I've also incorporated a toner into my skin care regime that I picked up in India by Ayur. My skin feels super clean and fresh every time I swipe it across. You can really feel it getting to work straight away!

Does anyone else need to shake things up in the morning? I hear two-tone lips are on vogue this year, not sure how I can squeeze this into my 15 minute slot..

Orange Lips? It's Good to Go.

Hello Hello!

As my regular readers will probably know, I love bright lipsticks! I love corals, pinks, reds and oranges... what was that? Oranges? Yes, you read that right. Orange.

My most recent lipstick related posts about Lady Danger & So Chaud were nothing in comparison to this baby: MAC's Pro Long Wear Lipcreme in 'Good To Go'.

In all honesty I purchased this a couple of months back when MAC launched their first Pro Long Wear range. At first I used to dab it into the lips for a subtle, orangey hue lip colour. I just wasn't brave enough to wear this full on, I needed to be broken into it!

So after dabbling with the Corals and the Reds, I decided the time was right to wear this orange explosion full on. And I mean straight from the actual stick.

The actual stick itself is not shaped like many a traditional lipstick, it can be a tad difficult to apply. My tip would be to simply slop (for want of a better word!) a load onto your lips and use a lip brush to curve it around the natural shape of your lips.

MAC describe this as a loudmouth orange, which is true but I would say this is a bright, vivid orange with a hint of red in it. It's quite similar to 'So Chaud' but with a stronger orange tone to it. As with all MAC lipsticks it's incredibly pigmented and totally opaque.

The first day I wore 'Good To Go' properly a friend of mine complained her eyes were hurting because of the brightness! Such a joker! Joking aside, it is bright but you won't look like your lips have been Tango'd!

The formula is super creamy, it glides effortlessly onto your lips and feels gorgeous! Once you've applied it, it does take a few minutes to dry onto the lips. Once it is fully dry you'll find it lasts a good few hours.

I tested it on a 7 hour working day and it was incredible how long it actually lasts. By the afternoon it was beginning to fade a little, but at the end of the day there is a nice stain on your lips. The only downside to the product is that it feels a bit drying on the lips during the day. It's definitely not as drying as MAC's Matte Formual lipstick though, so kudos to MAC for that!

To go with the orange lippy, I busted out some eyeshadows! I opted for Gold & a touch of black:

What do you think of orange lips? Have you found any exciting lipsticks lately?

Hope you're all enjoying the second 4 day weekend in a row. The weather has been lush. Altough today, it has been seriously windy. Oh boo!
