OOTD: Unicorns for all Seasons

At the moment it's as if we're stuck in between seasons, the weather can't quite decide whether it's Winter, Spring or Summer and constantly switches between the three. It makes picking the right outfit just that little bit more tricky, I don't want to find myself too hot or too cold. So I set about looking for a lightweight jumper that I can shove into my handbag and wear it over my midi dresses (Ok so I'm a little crazy for Midis at the moment!)

A friend of mine recently purchased the Bhanjara t-shirt from Drop Dead, and you know me I love my mythological creatures: Mermaids, Fairies and even Unicorns... Which leads me nicely to this perfect jumper I spotted online. I purchased it immediately for £60, which is a bit pricey for a thin knitted piece like this but it is so completely different to what you see on the high street. So in my book, it's definitely worth it!

For this outfit, I paired the jumper with my black velvet shorts and some beautiful rings...

JEWELLERY:

I purchased this set of rings from H & M in March and I've been wearing them compulsively! Even to the point where I bought both the gold and silver sets. I love the different sizes of the rings and the way they stack up and worn above the knuckles, sometimes it's the simple things...

  

How gorgeous are these rings?! The blue-stoned ring was purchased from eBay for £8 and is genuine vintage. The silver wedding ring? Well I have a confession... I made it! Yup, I've learnt a lot about how to make jewellery recently: cutting & moulding metals, soldering and polishing. I'm practising more at home and will see how it goes. I've got some sketches and designs and I hope to pursue it as a side project. Eeeee!

You might have noticed my hair looks a little different today. Firstly I've coloured the underneath sections Indigo using Fudge Paintbox and La Riche Directions as a taster to see it how it looks. It's really growing on me and I'm contemplating going all the way up to the roots leaving a Turquoise Ombre. Secondly, I've tried out Victory Rolls on my hair! I have to say a big thank you to my friend YouTube for all the help as I struggled at first. But the more you do it, the easier it gets. It can be a little tricky though what with all the layers in my hair, but backcombing and hairspray helps :)

JEWELLERY: Arabic Calligraphy Rings

Hey lovers!

Way back in my teens, I was enrolled onto a 6 year (yes six year) course learning Qur'anic Arabic, translating from Arabic into my native Urdu. As time wore on it became more and more difficult and demanding and I started to dislike going. That being said I fell in love with the actual Arabic language. The spoken word is just beautiful, whilst the written word is a work of art.

Much like everyone else who's ever been to school I began doodling on my exercise books, and the doodles turned into full-on illustrations and Arabic calligraphy. 

After the course had finished I began to forget how amazing this language really is, time eroded that memory away. Until last year that is, when I walked past a shop on Wilmslow Road selling Arabic Calligraphy canvases. I was in complete awe and it all came flooding back to me at once. Anyway I carried on walking and thought about how I'm so much more into fashion now than I've ever been before. Then it struck me: 'Why don't I try incorporating Arabic into my style?'

 

I managed to find an eBay seller offering Arabic name necklaces and, although it took them a couple of attempts to get it right, I rarely take it off! More recently I visited Jerusalem and came across some Palestinian stalls selling these amazing Arabic Calligraphy rings. After some fun haggling over the price, I managed to get it down to £2 a ring! Naturally I bought a few ;)

The rings themselves have a metallic finish but are actually made of resin. Still, it takes nothing away from the truly stunning design. 

I have to say that I'm completely turned off by the jewellery on offer on the high street at the moment, there's not a lot to write home about which is pretty annoying really as there's so much room for creativity with jewellery. Anyways, I did manage to find a set of rings from H & M. It's a mixture of plain gold stackable rings in various sizes, including a couple of mid-finger rings. OUTFIT: Celestial Blazer

Hey girlfriends!

Those of you who follow me on Instagram (if you don't, do have a browse! If you want..), will probably have noticed that I've been appearing in several photos wearing a pretty unique looking blazer. I've had quite a few people ask me where I got it from and even a few OOTD requests, so here goes!

At the moment I'm going through a phase where I love anything Galaxy printed, the universe is such a fascinating subject, not to mention pretty! I have a galaxy iPhone case, galaxy cushions, a galaxy midi skirt and I even attempted some galaxy nail art. So anyway, I was wandering aimlessly around the Topshop end of year sale hunting for something good, when I stumbled across something out of the ordinary. It was a Galaxy print blazer. I was in a state of shock, firstly because usually I miss out on all the good stuff at the sales due to my hatred of them and secondly it was in my size!

The print itself is quite vibrant with a whole variety of colours thrown into the mix, you've got turquoise, mint and even magenta to name but a few. Even looking at it from across the room now, it's almost as if I am actually looking into a small window of space!

Aside from that, the fitting is just perfection. It's size 6, smartly tailored and looks sharp with that fun element added to it. It's an open blazer, so there's no buttons at the front and inside it's fully lined. The quality of this piece is fantastic, I've already worn it an awful lot since purchasing and it's holding up so well, I can see this lasting me years.

Apologies for the lack of blog activity this week! I've been busy on a jewellery workshop, the first piece I made was a wedding ring which was surprisingly easy to make! In other news I purchased a pair of skinny cigarette trousers (why are they called that?!), and you know that's quite a big deal for me considering I live in tights!

OUTFIT - Destroying the Winter Blues

Hello hello!

I've said this before, but I'll say it again... I'm back! This time I'm determined to stick at it though, promise!

Anyway, our disappointing Summer is well and truly over. We managed to get a few weeks of Autumn, but this week it has been COLD. The park I pass by on the way to work was seriously eerie, the grass was white! Brrr.

Traditionally this is the season where we all retire back into our shells of darker, duller colours. High street outlets bombard us with darkness. 

But me? Well, that's just not my style. 

Dark, dull clothes mixed with dark, dull weather makes for a serious case of the 'Winter Blues'. For me, the brighter the better. I mean, I'll still get the blues, I'll still pine for warmer climes, I'll still wish I could eat frozen yoghurt without it freezing me too. But just take a look at this beautiful dress.

If you're up to date with my previous posts, you'll already know my feelings on sales. Ghastly, horrific experiences. But every now and then, a little gem pokes out of the filth. I defy anyone around me to feel miserable while I'm wearing this gorgeous bright yellow dress, with amazing oriental floral prints all over it. I got it in a size 6 and it's still pretty loose fitting on me. So I threw on my trusty Asos skinny black belt to cinch it all in, wear the dress off the shoulder and we have a bright outfit to smash through those blues.

My infatuation with Henna Tattoos is still going strong, they've been making their way from my hands up to my arms. I've really been loving Arabic lately, the scriptures are amazingly beautiful, some may even call it art. 

  

And last but certainly not least, my favourite necklace at the moment, the Rita Ora Amber necklace. It's a beaut. It's huge, it's statement, it's chunky. And I heart it. It's bloody heavy though haha.

OOTD - Lightning Bolt Tee

Hello there!

So Friday night I went out. It was bladdy freeeezing. Luckily we've not had any snow here in Manchester or I'd be kissing goodbye to my social life. Let's just put it this way, me and ice have been arch-enemies for a long time.

When I'd heard that the weather was going to be extremely cold this week I was really dreading the prospect of icy pathways everywhere! Argh!

But then I saw this top in Topshop, and all the talk of cold weather was put straight out the window! I fell head-over-heels for it, there was also a nude version with bronze shiny bits which I also wanted badly. In the end though, sensible me won out and I plumped for the blue one. Though, there could be a rematch next time I'm in there. Watch out sensible me!
